Albo P Fossa—May 2, 2019
Shrug off the cold winter: longer days, new warmth, greenery, flowers, lizards, bees and other bugs—including aints. Time for gaity: pick a day. May 5! Drink o’ the May O!
The date was assimilated as a minor holiday in Mexico to celebrate the Battle of Puebla. In the US, some revel in Hispanic heritage. But many just party—though some may make a point of Mexican beers, margaritas, and maybe even mariachi music—or at least, say, Santana.
But it all boils down to (or shows up as) rites of Spring. Humans and critters wiggle and wag as they have in all Earth’s tilting years. They drink in new life.
Cinco de Mayo. Spring!
